Weekly Roundup June 6-12

This week leads off with a great new Lensbaby workshop where each participant will be assigned their own Lensbaby Composer for their camera.  We have Lensbabies for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus and Pentax.  This is a great workshop to learn about selective focus techniques and how ton achieve that sought after artistic out of focus look.  Tuesday 6:00 PM to 10PM Register Here.

Next up is Samy’s own Deborah Cloyd for a seminar entitled How to Fund your Wanderlust: Travel writing, Art Photography, Reality Television, and a Novel.  This seminar coincides with her new book release from MIRA Books/Harlequin.  She will share how to your vacations funded by travel writing and photography gigs.  Thursday 7-9PM Register Here

The weekend is jam packed with great workshops.  First up on Saturday is Photographing the Gardens at Huntington Library.  This class will start off in the Samy’s Pasadena classroom and then move to the Huntington Library where attendees will have the opportunity to shoot with instructor Art Ramirez on hand to answer questions.  10:30-4:30pm Register Here

At the Fairfax location on Saturday is a free Spyder event with Live Printing Session.  Josh Fischer, education manager at Datacolor, and DPA Instructor, Jimmy Fikes will show you how to use Spyder color calibration tools to preserve the true colors present from camera, to monitor and thru to print. Door prizes will be given out including a Spyder Cube and 5 Black Rapid Camera Straps.  11:00-2:00pm Register Here.

Also on Saturday in LA is the Spanish language Flash workshop where instructor Marissa López Donatt will teach about mixing natural light and strobes for portraiture.  11:00– 5:00pm Register Here.

Sunday literally starts off with a bang when Samy’s employee and Dodger photographer Pat Gee shares his secrets to shooting great fireworks images like those hanging at the Dodger’s cooperate offices.  This workshop starts on Sunday where Pat will show you his work and talk about how he captured his iconic fireworks shots. The following Friday the group will meet at Elysian Park overlooking Dodger Stadium to shoot the spectacular fireworks display.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn from a pro like Pat and to shoot Dodgers fireworks from an amazing vantage point.  Seminar is from 1:00-3:00PM on Sunday and continues Friday 6:00-10:00PM.  Register here.
