Samy’s Camera, the largest imaging retailer on the West Coast, is offering 15 students, selected by Virginia Road Elementary School, a course in photography at no cost to the students or the school. Samy’s Camera will showcase all the students’ artwork in a silent auction gallery show. All proceeds raised will be donated back to the school, courtesy of Samy’s Camera. The ceremony will be held at Virginia Road Elementary School on Thursday June 23rd at 2:30pm. Parents and the community at large will have the opportunity to see the fruit of the children’s labor. The camera retailer will gift each student a diploma, a DVD slideshow and a personalized photo book with 40 photos taken by their graduating class.
Samy’s Camera Photo Camp is an 8-week course that covers the fundamentals of photography, including perspective, framing and composition. Each week, instructors delve into the various fields of photography, including sports, fashion, food, photojournalism and more. Each student was equipped with a digital point-and-shoot camera, camera case, 2GB card, and a Samy’s Camera Photo Camp t-shirt and hat. All to keep!
