I just put up a quick video guide about how to set up your Canon 5D MkII to shoot video. The I Love LA photo contest that Samy’s sponsored is over and the reception is Thursday August 11th:
Opening reception for the 42 artists and 50 works of “I Love LA”. Come downtown to the Pacific Ballroom at the historic Wilshire Grand Hotel. Meet the artists, view or buy their works and pick up a copy of the exhibition book (while supplies last) - I Love LA Facebook
This should be a great party and opportunity to mingle with like minded photographers in LA. It’s also Artwalk that night so make sure to wander over to the Historic Core for some street action including gourmet food trucks.
The show installs at Duncan Miller Gallery, 10959 Venice Blvd in West LA on Saturday August 13 and runs through September 17.
Samy’s is pleased to announce a great outdoor photo related event taking place this Friday and Saturday from sunset until 10PM at the Music Center Plaza downtown LA . This is the culmination of the 24/1 day in a life photo contest that we sponsored by providing $300 gift cards and 6 colorful new Tenba Vector camera bags (courtesy of the Mac Group). This outdoor event promises to be a blast with dancing and music accompanying the projected slide shows.

Samy’s Camera and Duncan Miller Gallery have teamed up to bring you an amazing summer photo contest with the theme of I Love LA. Whether you are a professional photographer, amateur or just shoot for fun, we invite you to take part in this competition.
Submit any photograph you feel that would best represent this theme. It can be literal images, or your own interpretation. Have fun with it, be serious, quirky, dramatic, sexy, edgy, whatever you choose. It could be an image you took years ago, or one you’ll take tomorrow. Send up to three images per entry that will be judged under this theme, your submission fee is $30. Your works will be reviewed by our prestigious jury. The top 30 photographs will be invited to join a special gallery exhibition of this same theme launching at Duncan Miller Gallery in Los Angeles. During the gallery exhibition, we will ask viewers to vote for their favorite image, and the three top picks will split a prize package worth more than $5,000.

We have a winner in the short but sweet Twitter contest! We used Tweetaways to randomly draw a winner and it’s twitter user @DaveSalyer who won a Nikon D3100 kit from Samy’s Camera.
